We are proud to announce we are the only Utah Outfitter that specializes in Varmint Hunting. We also have classes, training courses for those wanting to learn; From beginners to advanced. Starting December 1st we are starting an indoor basic course at Tooele Learning Center. Classes start at 6pm to 8pm. Pre registration is required as space is limited to 25 per class. Well now for my second Review let me start by saying six words of advice (from experience).

DONT BUY THIS FROM A STORE!

Buy it instead from the best resource I have found, THE COMPANY WHO MADE IT!

Fox pro will have a rep. Go over this item and let you CUSTOM build your unit with ONLY the sounds you choose! And I cant stress enough how awesome that feeling is! I ordered mine after I went thru their list of sounds, chose the ones I wanted, and was amazed at how many I could choose from, and how well they intermixed, and how many I could have on my unit! 24, yes thats twenty four custom sounds you can have on this caller. To include the very sounds made by Randy Anderson himself!

Ok, as for durability I have so got to tell you this TRUE story! (Randy, stop laughing)

On one occasion I was hunting with a group of 4 other folks ( club members) I had all 3 electronic calls out in a field, rabbit and a coyote decoy, covering some 500 acres of open terrain! Anyhow, long story short; ( u see where this is going yet?) Yeppers, 4 days later I realized my Fox Pro was missing!

After tearing my place apart I suddenly realized my horror! I returned to that field, retrieved my Fox Pro, and it was still on! It had rained, snowed, and been freezing cold these past 4 days! I replaced the batteries, turned on the remote, and started calling like a brand new one! Now I dont-cant say what the service-replacement policy would be on that issue, But with a product like this, who needs it? (joke) Well, needless to say I was a bit relieved! Truth be known, this is my favorite caller of the 3 I own! It has a jack for a 2^nd speaker, additional jack for accessories as u can see on their site. Speaking of which, here is where you can get yours !

Also you can dnload more sounds or order more and replace the card inside and program the remote for the different sounds. Now that just rocks folks, and is priced bout the same as the other two electronic calls!

Now I am perty sure you aint wondering if I would recommend this item, or buy another!

My only issue with this product in but one, I WANT THEM ALL and I want them now! ( thats not a joke folks) Yes I would and do HIGHLY recommend this product! And yes, I would buy another, and plan to when money is available! As I am also starting an outfitters business, I think I could use a few more! Thats a hint their Randy and Fox Pro staff!

Ok. now this is my 2nd of three reviews of Electronic calls. And will be one more to come. As I said before, I will only give a review on products I have used PERSONALLY!

No word of mouth, 2^nd hand, etc..

I WOULD AND DO RECOMMEND THIS CALL!~

Why? Well duhh, lol. YES, and here is why;price, number of sounds at purchase, programmed with own choice at time of purchase, re-programmable, ability to add speaker and a decoy!

Durability, range of remote(well over 100 yards numerous times) reckon I found ultimate conditions aye? And over all an awesome product! Oh yea, unit does NOT have to be in line of sight!

55gr, Ballistic Silver Tips

Well, got one Yote ya seen in other pic.'s with this one. Bolt action is a smooth as any rifle I have used in 40+ yrs of hunting and using firearms!

Has never jammed, weather has had no adverse effects on it! Weight is no problem, but not a light weight. Personally I dont care for light weights anyhow. Not the greatest for long range, and I do take some perty long range shots. Longest last year was approx 780 yards: I missed but was my own fault!

Over adjusted for wind-age, missed by about 2 inches according to witnesses! As for this brand and model, be assured I am gonna be buying a few others of different calibers. Looking for a 30-06 now and hope to have it soon! ( will stay with the Howa model 1500's)

I WOULD VERY MUCH RECOMMEND this firearm for any hunting needs; from varmints ( is what mine is for), to large game!

Well, I bought my first one 2 yrs ago, in that year I owned 3, and used it a great deal! So I hope you will take ALL comments for what they are. My opinion based on owning and actually using in various conditions, times, and over a 2 year period! Some were in extreme cold (most were), some in mild conditions, and numerous times, during snow fall, and rain! Yes, RAIN!

Well, first the PRO'S;

First it is wireless, I for one don’t want a 50ft or what ever length wire running from call to me!

The quality of the sound (realism) is the best of the 3 brands I own! (other 2 TBA in other reviews)

Coloring is easily enough to conceal as is, but as u will see, I used cloth cammo tape to break-up the silhouette!

Volume is for me plenty loud enough, as I have called in coyotes on a number of times from over 500 yrds, maybe further!

With the 12 sounds it has pre programmed, there is a good selection! Main howls, distress are available, and you can have great results with them! But I just cant find a use for the snow geese option!

Battery life has not been a problem once, and I cant say enough good for the extra battery pack for the caller itself! On the rare occasion I think batteries are low, I just open caller, remove battery pack, and slide in other battery pack, close compartment, and I am done! No looking for loose batteries, and both battery packs are from what I can tell also water proof-resistant. A BIG plus for me!

The caller as well as the remote have proven themselves time after time to be weather resistant!

As I said, I hunt in extreme cold, snow,(heavy at times), and been caught in the rain a time or 16!

Not once has the weather prevented the caller from functioning!

OK, now for their CONS,

Well, as I also said in beginning, in one year, I went thru 3. Now for the why!

After I purchased my first one, I found the REMOTE wouldn’t work past 5 feet away!(bought at a retailer in town), 2^nd one I bought from amazon, had same identical problem. 3^rd (which I still have) I ordered directly from Primo's! SAME PROBLEM! Seems their Remote just wont work past 10 feet at best!

The sounds are what you get, and stuck with, you cannot change, add, or subtract in any way!

The mic, as is built, is also as is, you cannot add-plug in a second speaker(or anything else)

Well, the remote is my only real complaint for this electronic caller that I have! And I must say, for the price would be hard to go wrong! For those who cant do or use the mouth calls, and money is your biggest issue,

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CALLER

Now to clarify myself on a few things. As I said, I still have mine, and I still use it; as I will continue to do so. Why? Well for one as I said, the quality,realism is awesome, and I can use it from a very short distance, and it also helps in variations of sounds. I combine it with the mouth calls( I only have 27 for now) hmm, or is it 37, geesh, time to do a count again!

And on another note: it is rugged enough to withstand ME, ya better believe its durable! I am hard on things, and the environment I hunt in is hard as well! Also with the other 2 I returned, wanted to ad that Primo's warranty, and service was in my opinion very refreshingly awesome. Not once did any Representative question me. Simply said a replacement was en route! THAT'S SERVICE FOLKS! Try that with the new car ya just bought!

BOUNTY on COYOTES in TOOELE Co.

Well, after taking coyote u see pictured below, turned it in for bounty,
Step one, filled out info sheet
Step 2, filled out a W-9 form (taxes)
step 3, gentleman cut BOTH ears for proof it was turned in for bounty
Step4, paperwork gits turned in to tax successor's office, they inturn mail you your $20 dollar check! (person u go to can also turn in papers for you if u both agree to let him or her do so)
Hope this info helps anyone wanting to know the procedures!
. Note: they are all VOLUNTEER'S, and NOT PAID FOR THIS SERVICE!
All coyotes turned in for bounty must be from Tooele Co. Proof of your Tooele Co. residence is required! Drivers license, piece of mail with current address, Valid hunting license, Tax notice for property owned in the county is accepted for proof of residency!

wpn.'s zeroing/firing , an awesome time

Well, after a lil cold wind, snow blew away we started with a great safety class,designated personnel we started our play time! scenario's for quick close in firing. And some long range firing with numerous fire arms.

We will be eating lunch on site, so if ya want a certain drink, bring it. Vance is bringing cheese pizza, I will try to bring KFC chicken! and coffee and Mtn Dews.
ALSO; anyone with walkie talkie's, preferably with head phones & mic, BRINGEM! we can test them for compatibility with mine! I have 4, 2 with head sets, but need another set for the cobra's,will keep looking for them also.

Well, I for one hear so much bout folks hunting bear & mtn. lions with dogs! Let the dogs run them till their up a tree, near a cliff edge, then shoot their prey from a safe distance while dogs hold them at bay! Hmm, thats real brave, ethical huh? Well, this man went 6ft INTO the cave and faced a 703 lb bear! Big cahoonie's & 1/2 crazy, Something I for one would not have done! And i have hunted bear, but never with dogs! Seems alot of self righteous critic's think he was wrong! So how about your opinion? I stated mine!

Section 17 Spotlighting of coyote, red fox, striped skunk, and raccoon -- County ordinances -- Permits.

23-13-17. Spotlighting of coyote, red fox, striped skunk, and raccoon -- County ordinances -- Permits.
(1) Spotlighting may be used to hunt coyote, red fox, striped skunk, or raccoon where allowed by a county ordinance enacted pursuant to this section.
(2) The ordinance shall provide that:
(a) any artificial light used to spotlight coyote, red fox, striped skunk, or raccoon must be carried by the hunter;
(b) a motor vehicle headlight or light attached to or powered by a motor vehicle may not be used to spotlight the animal; and
(c) while hunting with the use of an artificial light, the hunter may not occupy or operate any motor vehicle.
(3) For purposes of the county ordinance, "motor vehicle" shall have the meaning as defined in Section 41-6a-102.
(4) The ordinance may specify:
(a) the time of day and seasons when spotlighting is permitted;
(b) areas closed or open to spotlighting within the unincorporated area of the county;
(c) safety zones within which spotlighting is prohibited;
(d) the weapons permitted; and
(e) penalties for violation of the ordinance.
(5) (a) A county may restrict the number of hunters engaging in spotlighting by requiring a permit to spotlight and issuing a limited number of permits.
(b) (i) A fee may be charged for a spotlighting permit.
(ii) Any permit fee shall be established by the county ordinance.
(iii) Revenues generated by the permit fee shall be remitted to the Division of Wildlife Resources for deposit into the Wildlife Resources Account, except the Wildlife Board may allow any county that enacts an ordinance pursuant to this section to retain a reasonable amount to pay for the costs of administering and enforcing the ordinance, provided this use of the permit revenues does not affect federal funds received by the state under 16 U.S.C. Sec. 669 et seq., Wildlife Restoration Act and 16 U.S.C. Sec. 777 et seq., Sport Fish Restoration Act.
(6) A county may require hunters to notify the county sheriff of the time and place they will be engaged in spotlighting.
(7) The requirement that a county ordinance must be enacted before a person may use spotlighting to hunt coyote, red fox, striped skunk, or raccoon does not apply to:
(a) a person or his agent who is lawfully acting to protect his crops or domestic animals from predation by those animals; or
(b) an animal damage control agent acting in his official capacity under a memorandum of agreement with the division.

6-10-1. Purpose.

It is the intent and purpose of this chapter to prohibit night hunting, or shooting, within the limits of Tooele County in order to prevent vandalism and the illegal shooting of livestock. (Ord. 95-19, 9/12/95; Ord. 94-19, 10/24/94)

6-10-2. Night hunting prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt, take or attempt to take any form of terrestrial or avian wildlife during the nighttime within the limits of Tooele County, Utah, except as provided in Section 6-10-3. (Ord. 95-19, 9/12/95; Ord. 94-19, 10/24/94)

6-10-3. Exceptions - Permit required.

(1) Nothing in this chapter shall prevent:
(a) any land owner from using an artificial light or discharging a firearm at any time on lands under his control for the purpose of protecting livestock; and
(b) any peace officer or conservation officer in the performance of his lawful duties from the use of an artificial light or discharging a firearm at any time.
(2) The Tooele County Sheriff is authorized to issue night hunting permits to qualified individuals who will be hunting jackrabbits with air guns for legitimate research projects. A written request detailing the project and identifying the applicant shall be submitted to the Sheriff prior to the issuance of a night hunting permit. The Sheriff may terminate any previously issued permit if the provisions of this chapter, State wildlife regulations or any conditions of the permit are not strictly complied with. Persons issued a permit under this section shall not hunt jackrabbits at night while any Utah big game season is open in that area or any adjacent area. A person may appeal any decision of the Sheriff made under this chapter pursuant to the procedures specified in Section 9-1-22 of the Tooele County Code. (Ord. 95-19, 9/12/95; Ord. 94-19, 10/24/94)

6-10-4. Definitions.

(1) "Nighttime" or "night", within the meaning of this Chapter, shall be that time from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.
(2) "Air gun" means a device which could be used as a weapon and expels a projectile by the force of compressed air. (Ord. 95-19, 9/12/95; Ord. 94-19, 10/24/94)

(1) Yes, U can BAIT for coyotes, 1 rule though, bait cannot be from a protected species ie:
U cannot use deer, antelope, moose, elk, etc, (protected species)
2) U can use bait such as Rabbits, other coyote carcass', rodents,chicken's, etc!

3) There is a $25 bounty on coyotes as of last yr, was raised! / I am also trying to follow-up on any updates in matter of $25 dollar bounty
4) U can turn in carcass for hide and bounty, Info from Tooele Co. Game warden

I also remember a coyote attack on a toddler taking place when I lived in Los Alamos. Many of the houses there border on mountainous, wooded open space. Even in the center of town, it was not uncommon to spot coyotes, but the houses near the mountains had coyotes as familiar neighbors. Apparently the coyote in question came into the backyard of this particular house and attacked the toddler who was playing in the fenced yard unattended. There was speculation that the coyote intended to eat the child, as most of his injuries were in the abdominal area. Our friend, who was a nurse in the town's hospital at the time, said the child's injuries were pretty gruesome and that he lost part of his intestines.-Jason, Los Alamos, New Mexico

My husband and I went coyote hunting several years ago near the mountains in Walden, Colorado. We were sitting on a hillside about 100 yards up the slope and began calling coyotes in to us with a rabbit call. It was about half an hour later that we saw our first coyote about 700-800 yards away. We continued to call with the rabbit call and the eeriest thing happened. From every hillside around us, we began to see coyotes moving in our direction. We counted over 15 coyotes approaching us from about 4 directions. The scary thing was instead of feeling like we were the hunters, we began to feel like we were the ones being hunted. It was the most amazing and eerie I have ever seen in the wild.-Rachel, hunter, Longmont, CO

Taylor Mitchell, a 19-year-old Toronto singer whose debut album was released in March, has died in a Nova Scotia hospital after being mauled by coyotes in a Cape Breton park.
Mitchell was hiking Tuesday on the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park when she was attacked by two coyotes. Another hiker, who was walking nearby, heard her cries for help and called 911.
Officers arrived about 3:15 p.m., and one of the coyotes fled into the bush. The other coyote was shot and limped away.
Mitchell was airlifted to a hospital in Halifax, where she died early Wednesday.

Description
Coyotes are members of the canine family. In shape and size, the coyote is kind of like a medium-sized Collie, but its bushy, round tail is carried out below its back. These animals are found in deserts and valleys. When measured, they weigh about twenty pounds, less than half of the coyote's mountain kin, who weigh about fifty pounds. The higher the elevation, the darker, thicker, and longer the fur is, but the under parts are white. Some species have white-tipped tails. The tail is a threat. It becomes bushier and turns sideways when the coyote displays aggression. Their hearing is very good and is used for finding food and avoiding predators.The nose is very important as well. The coyote's sense of smell is very developed and helps it to smell carrion and the territories of other coyotes. Last, but not least, the feet have five digits and the coyotes only walk on their toes. That means they are digitigrades.
There are eight other species of Canis. There are jackals, gray wolves, red wolves, and all the domestic dogs.
Usually, coyotes dig their own den, but sometimes find a natural hole or a badger hole and make it bigger. The coyote tries to hide its den, but because of the path that leads away from the dens they are easy to find. These animals use the holes to give birth to their pups and to sleep. Coyotes do not hibernate during the winter like some animals do.
The scientific name for coyote means "Barking Dog." It is Canis latrans.
What do they eat?
Having the ability to eat anything it can chew, the coyote is a cunning hunter and an opportunistic scavenger. The coyote can run up to 40 mph, and combine its abilities with one or two others when they are running down their prey. Coyotes can eat insects, arachnids, rabbits, deer, big horn sheep, chickens, and sheep. They also may eat household pets such as cats and dogs.
Depredation, killing coyotes because they are harmful, has become common in ranching areas. Ranchers fear for their wildlife.Also, since the coyote's fur has become so valuable, man became their main predator. They are scared of us, because we are the dominant species. Also, another reason is that we can eat almost anything we want, including them.

Well welcome to all who venture here. Site made 11/09, 6:45 pm. Hope you find this site a pleasure

Its a new program i am trying to start in attempt to better the hunting community,
We will hold meetings, post pic;s on this site, hope to start community events, seminars, etc.
To include hunt camps, advice columns, among other things to better ourselves, our community's.
I for one am involved with numerous activities, photography, wild mustangs,volunteer search & rescue, and willing to train others if desired! Repelling, rock climbing,land navigation. as well as coyote hunting, duhh, lol! I dont claim to be a professional hunter, but will share what i know, and like to learn more myself. Share hunting stories on here (yours) if ya like, with photo's, etc.
